Haiti Refugee Resettlement Program Update

Thank you for your support for our friends and colleagues in Haiti who are in the process of
resettling in the United States. Your inquiries, gifts, and sponsorships are very much
appreciated. We currently have about 20 Haitian applicants in process, most still awaiting their
visas. The outpouring of sponsors nationwide has caused application approvals to move much
more slowly than was first anticipated (by the end of April, 580,000 applications had already been
made on behalf of Haitians). That number continues to grow daily.

We will keep you updated about the Haitian individuals and families who will be helped
through our start-up fund as they arrive. Thank you for your generous support and for your
prayers for our brothers and sisters in Christ.

New Cassava Initiative with the Haiti Partnership

Dear Friends,

Thank you for your ongoing support of the Haiti Partnership

As you may have read in our recent newsletter, we are pleased to be partnering with APSHA to launch a new Cassava Initiative in Jeannette, Haiti. Phase One of this exciting program will generate income and food security for 100 farming families in the year ahead, the first step toward our goal of helping St. Marc church and school achieve financial autonomy.

After ongoing discussions with St. Marc parish priest Père Moise we have also committed to fund a substantial portion of the clinic and school staffing budgets for the 2023-24 school year. To do that while also funding the cassava program, we rely on your continued generosity.

This is a big paradigm shift for us all. It optimizes our resources while helping our friends in Jeannette to increase theirs—a move that is vital and in the best interests of those served by St. Marc’s institutions. Its success relies on your continued generosity.

Please see the attached Cassava initiative outline for further details. And please share it with your congregations and any others who may be interested in helping our friends in Jeannette take this important next step.

If you have questions or ideas about how you can help with fundraising, please let me or Cathy know.

In Christ,
