The First in the Diocese of Milwaukee

    Description
The Rev. Susan Clark, the first woman to be ordained as a priest in the Diocese of Milwaukee, puts her ordination in the context of a changing diocese and reflects on what that means for all of us.

    Broad Perspective
Li Tim-Oi was the first female priest ordained in the Anglican Communion in 1944.  She had been serving as deacon in the Chinese city of Macao when the Japanese occupied the area and made it difficult for priests to enter.  Bishop Raymond Hall of Hong Kong ordained her to the priesthood to serve the faithful there, which she had already been doing out of duty and necessity.

    Scripture
Gal. 3:28 (NKJV): There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
