What is the Wear Orange Movement?
    Read on . . .

    Dear Friends in Christ,
As many of you know, I am one of the founding members of Bishops United Against Gun Violence, a group of bishops of The Episcopal Church committed to reducing deaths by gun violence and encouraging our political leaders to do all in their power to encourage sane gun laws that respect the Second Amendment.
I am pleased that so many of you have expressed your support and encouragement for my leadership in addressing this epidemic and have taken up this cause.
Just today, I met with members of our diocese and others who through Common Ground are a part of a the campaign Do Not Stand Idly By, an IAF program that is encouraging public investment in smart gun technology, a technology proven to reduce shooting deaths.
I write to you today to ask you to join me and the members of Bishops United in participating in the Wear Orange Movement on Thursday, June 2 by having your picture taken in orange garb on June 2 and posted on social media using the hashtags #WearOrange and #Episcopal.
More information about this can be found in the Episcopal News Service press release
As the prayer from blessed Francis reminds us, we are called to be instruments and agents of God's peace. This is one way you can fulfill that calling. I look forward to seeing your posts on Facebook and Twitter.

    Yours in Christ,

The Rt. Rev. Steven A. Miller
    Bishop of Milwaukee
