    Appalachia Service Project Mission Trip

Six youth and three adults from St Andrew's-Madison are working in Chavies, KY (Perry County) during July 16-23 to make homes warmer, safer and drier in one of the most impoverished regions of the US.  The St Andrews youth group has been taking summer mission trips with Appalachia Service Project (ASP) since 1998.  Three members of the Parish have served on summer staff at ASP, including Mary Jo Elder who is in Breathitt County, KY this summer and was in Greenbrier Co. WV) in 2013-2014 and Associate Recotr, Mother Dorota Pruski, who was on ASP staff 3 years during college: 2003 (Logan Co. WV), 2004 (Leslie Co., KY) and 2006 (Anderson Co. TN).
Appalachia Service Project is dedicated to improving substandard housing in 24 counties across a 5-state region of Appalachia this summer: www.asphome.org.  ASP also operates three year-round facilities, including the ASP-Chavies center, all of which provide opportunities for volunteers to have a life changing experience while repairing homes for low-income families.
