New Director hired for Hospitality Center

5/3/16 | News | by Barbara Klauber

New Director for Hospitality Center by Leif Peterson, Interim Director

The Hospitality Center is extremely pleased to announce that Henry Perez takes over as Executive Director starting today, April 11. A former police officer, Perez now serves as an associate pastor part-time for the Kenosha Christian Reformed Church and as the Alderman of District 12 in Racine, where he has been an advocate for the Center. Henry brings a broad range of ministry experience and training which he will use to transition the Center into a new phase of service. Perez is excited about the opportunity because he sees the job as a ministry and an opportunity to meet a need that has grown within the community.

Longtime volunteer Leif Peterson, interim director of the Center, and former director Rev. Kevin Stewart led the process of finding a permanent director. "Henry was the best candidate for the job and we're pleased to have him," Leif states. "We interviewed four candidates and each of the four were very capable, but Henry stood out. He has strong interpersonal skills and conviction...he'll lead the Hospitality Center to the next level."

"It's an amazing ministry in an amazing city" Perez says. "But it has to fit into other ministries in Racine...so I see my role as helping the community examine and understand all its requirements. My involvement with the city brought this need to my attention and it is huge."

We've become Racine's largest meal program and serve 800 meals a week with volunteers and partner organizations. The Center will celebrate its fifth anniversary May 10. Watch for more information regarding our anniversary!
