Fresh Start

Fresh Start group - a Fresh Start group of the...Fresh Start is a diocesan-led program that seeks to foster healthy relationships among clergy, their congregations and their dioceses during critical periods of transition in clergy leadership. Encouraging open and honest discussion of transitional issues affecting both clergy and congregations, the program’s goal is to build a culture in which the mutual ministry of the clergy and congregation starts off on the right foot, enabling their new relationship to begin with a “Fresh Start.”

The Diocese of Milwaukee has had the Fresh Start Program since 2000 and it has been a crucial piece in strengthening our clergy community. We meet from September through June and have covered a wide array of topics such as trust development, conflict management, wellness, role clarity to name a few.

Founded in 2000 by The Episcopal Church’s transition ministry office, Fresh Start became part of the Episcopal Church Foundation in July 2012. Now operating in over half the dioceses of The Episcopal Church, it provides clergy and congregations with new leadership skills and practical resources so they can make the most of this time of change and opportunity.
