Congregational Development Thank you for checking out this page and I hope you continue to check in from time to time as this is a work in progress. Our goal is to provide resources and information that will be helpful to parish leaders as you move toward health and spiritual vitality. Click on the topic for specific information. The consistent area of need that people from all over the country realize is the lack of training or skills for those in leadership. The Diocese of Milwaukee is addressing this by making it a priority to offer and teach these very skills on a continual basis. Church Development Institute is a part of this priority as are the lab trainings offered by the Leadership Training Institute. We will be hosting a training this summer for conflict mangament in Milwaukee. In the resource section we will have training events and workshops which will be of interest to those in leadership. We will offer a variety of opportunities such as Healthy Congregation training, Community of Hope opportunities for training pastoral care givers, Spiritual Gift workshops and Fresh Start Modules for congregations. Should you have questions on any of the topics listed here please contact Peggy Worzalla, Bishop's Assistant for Congregational Development at worzalla@diomil.org or call 414-272-3028 extension 307 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Financially Assisted Congregations The Commission on Mission and Development is piloting in 2008 an assessment program based on the standard vision, mission, goals and action plans plus holding up the critical piece to healthy Christian community as our spiritual vitality. Even if you aren't receiving aid it is a good guide for and assessment tool. Click on the financial aid criteria link and use as a guide for your parish review process. There are currently nine congregations in our Diocese receiving financial assistance and they are doing some remarkable work. Check here to see how these parishes are striving to move toward God by living and sharing in Christian community.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> CDI Church Development Institute is in its fourth year and we currently have a full class. Here you will learn theories, strategies, methods and skills in order to understand community and self in implementing healthy change to strengthen your Christian community. * Church Development Institute Brochure * Current CDI members click here for you link to assignments The following resources are for individuals or parishes seeking to improve skills. You will notice some are specifically for the individual to hone their techniques in areas such as mediation, conflict management etc. And others for parishes to work together in self discovery (Assessment Tool) or in community such as the Healthy Congregations workshops. We also have resources for community building and learning through a National Program called Fresh Start. This program began for clergy either new to the diocese of making a change within the diocese and we have been running this program for eight years. The group meets for a two year period learning from a variety of topics such as role clarity, entering a new system, communications as well as many others. From this the Diocese of Milwaukee formed a program for Wardens about 4 years ago called Wardens in Transition based on this Fresh Start model. Sr. and Jr. Wardens are invited to join us as soon as the clergy announces they are leaving and to stay during the transition - which does include the first year. Together with other wardens they encourage, support and share their stories of living in transition. These Fresh Start modules are available for parishes - For more information on Fresh start check out their website http://www.episcopalfreshstart.org/ or call Peggy Worzalla (414-272-3028). Many attended the Boundaries session at the Vestry Training Day and wanted to know when other sessions were being offered. Here is your opportunity to attend a session with someone you can about. St. Bartholomew's in Pewaukee is offering a Boundaries in Marriage weekend in April. Check under events for dates and cost.
