FreshStart is a diocesan-led program that seeks to foster healthy relationships among clergy, their congregations and their dioceses during critical periods of transition in clergy leadership. Encouraging open and honest discussion of transitional issues affecting both clergy and congregations, the program’s goal is to build a culture in which the mutual ministry of the clergy and congregation starts off on the right foot, enabling their new relationship to begin with a “FreshStart”.
The Diocese of Milwaukee has had the FreshStart Program since 2000 and it has been a crucial piece in strengthening our clergy community. We meet from September through June and have covered a wide array of topics such as trust development, conflict management, wellness, role clarity to name a few. 2009/2010 FreshStart schedule.
Realizing that wardens in transition are going through difficult issues we developed a Wardens in Transition group in 2004 from the FreshStart program. We covered many of the same topics and provided a way to network and build community among lay leaders. In 2009 this group will tansition into a Wardens/Vestry group as a way to expand learning, networking and building community.
